Savannah Baker, LCSW
Masters in in Clinical Mental Health and Social Work | Mental Health Therapist
Hey there! I’m Savannah Baker, LCSW, and I am excited to welcome you to therapy! My goal as a therapist is to meet you every session with a feeling of warmth, safety, and purpose. Our first couple of sessions will center around identifying your goals, and helping me to better understand who you are and how I can best help you reach your goals. From there we will work on processing and learning skills to help you feel your best. I am passionate about my clients and would love to work with you.
My specialty is relationships. Relationships of all kinds can be hard to navigate, but especially when trauma, toxic behaviors, abuse, domestic violence, or struggling to communicate come in to play. I have specific training and experience in working with survivors of domestic violence. While many people consider this type of relationship to be exclusively a male abuser and a female victim, the truth is this can happen in same sex relationships, between female abusers and male victims, children may be involved, beloved pets may be involved, and domestic violence can occur no matter the race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identification. I am open to working with all relationships, and each situation will be met with dignity and respect in my office—or perhaps you have grown up in a family where this dynamic was present, and it still affects you today.
Whether it is an old relationship we need to process, a current relationship we need to assess, or just working on you better understanding yourself and your needs, you are welcome to bring it to me.
I have been trained in several types of therapy to address mental health and relationships. I use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), ACT (acceptance commitment therapy), and DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) based on the client and the goals and needs presented. I am certified in DBT, which is a type of therapy that focuses on considering different perspectives, identifying needs in relationships, using skills to alleviate symptoms, and practicing ways to interact and communicate to get your needs met appropriately.
I am a soft, bubbly person that loves mental health and meeting new people. I also love exploring local restaurants, listening to true crime podcasts, watching reality tv shows and spending time with my husband, daughter, and our dogs and cat.
