Master of Nursing Science | Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

I’m excited for this empowering experience to not only work amongst a group of confident female clinicians, but also humbled being given the opportunity to treat and heal diverse women throughout the community. Research has shown that twice as many women experience depression during their lives compared to men. When your mental health becomes impaired, it negatively impacts every other part of your life. It takes strength to seek help and I’m so proud of you for taking this step. My hope is that women become the new leaders in WOMENtal health.

I graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in 2015 with my Bachelors of Nursing Science degree. I then continued my academic studies, graduating with my Masters degree in 2018. I’m a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, Arkansas chapter. I’m originally from Texarkana, Arkansas and moved to NWA five years ago.

In 2018 I gained the title of board certified practitioner and can be considered an expert in the field of psychiatry. I practice psychiatry by accurately diagnosing disorders utilizing criteria from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5). I not only treat symptoms utilizing medication regimens, but I also find non-pharmacological modalities to be of great assistance when promoting healing and growth. I integrate mental health into my practice by offering supportive therapeutic techniques and strategies that enhance coping and resiliency.

I have extensive experience in providing care across all age groups, ranging from 5 to 95 years old. I have been in the practitioner role for five years and have eight years of psychiatric nursing experience. I often tell my patients that “feelings are real but they aren’t reality - you can challenge them.” I utilize a wholistic approach while considering environmental, hormonal, and medical influences.

For some individuals, it can be a tedious process finding a medication that adequately manages their symptoms. I take pride in taking the time to truly hear my patients and specifically select treatments that are uniquely tailored to their needs. I enjoy treating complex ailments such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD), Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Anxious Disorders, Sensory Processing Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and many more. I love educating my patients about disorders and medications, allowing them to gain insight and become empowered themselves.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my friends, loved ones, and all my four legged fur-children. I try my best to stay consistent with exercising and weight lifting throughout the week.  My love language is iced coffee and finding local restaurants to eat brunch.
